Not at all!!

I'm 14 and I play! It's not hard to understand at all, you just need a good teacher and some enthusiasm. And a piano, of course. Lmao.

You might have to begin with some stuff that seems very childish - I did - but once you're past that stage (maybe a few months) you can go on to play real pieces of music. You will gradually improve, and before you know it, you're a piano genius! It's not hard, you just need to practice. But trust me - practice is the only way to improve. You really have to put some effort in to practice otherwise you will get nowhere. But to be able to sit down at such a grand instrument and play such amazing music is truly worth the effort.

You're never too young. NEVER. My mum wants to learn - I'm going to teach her. So the age of 14 is certainly early enough. You just have to practice. You'll love it, I'm sure.

Good luck (:

Learn how to play piano chords and the theory behind them. Start with simple major chord triads - C-E-G for instance and move on the minors and sevenths, etc. Once you understand how and why chords are formed, progress is fast. Get a classical fake book for piano.

Hard is a very subjective term. Learning the piano, or any instrument, takes dedication and patience. If you are disciplined then learning the piano shouldn't be too "hard". It will take years of practice to become very proficient though. If you already have experience with a few instruments and found that keyboard was the least difficult then I would advise you to go with that.

Here are a few resources to get you started:

Teach yourself piano

It's not very early, it's very early when you are 5/6. But why don't you try? You can start with a teacher who can learn to you. If you like seeing people playing piano you'll probably like playing piano.
I'm 16 and I've played flute since October 2009 and I like it a lot!!!! Don't worry reading of the notes isn't very difficult!!! I hope you'll try!!!!

in my opinion, its not very hard. you just need to be able to move your hands pretty fast, and you need to be a little coordinated since there is 86 ( i think) keys on the piano. but if you take the learning process slow and easy, you might get the hang of it.

The guy above me 'superbeast' has given some great examples of pieces to learn however this depends on your ability to play the piano? This obviously won't be best answer because I am not including any suggestions however if you message me with how long you played, hardest stuff you can play etc. I will definitely be able to provide some stellar examples for any skill level. I have played piano for 7 years and I play at past grade 8 standard.

You certainly could use your left hand to play keys. A teacher would be much more useful to you than asking about self teaching on Y!A.

... I'm don't even know what to tell you about what you should do with "your stuff".

well as everyone is saying, the best way would be to have a teacher especially since you broker your arms so you don't want to get into it really fast or agressively. You have to rebuild the muscles you lost. You could get some self-teaching books but they can only take you so far and I find that it's harder to concentrate when you don't have someone else drilling you on. I recommend doing flash cards and theory books to learn how to read notes and then start doing some muscle building excercises like Hanon.

You will never know until you try. I don't think it's hard to learn to read music because each step up on the staff, counting lines and spaces, is one note up on the piano.

It depends how good you want to be and what sort of music you want to play. Most people can work out common chord patterns of pop songs on their own, and use that knowledge with a few instruments (namely keyboard and guitar nowadays), but you get to a certain point and can't go much further without instruction. It's relatively easy to memorise where the notes are, and basic songs, but if you want to write or improvise you may need to memorise how all the notes fit together aurally. Some of the more technical genres - jazz, for example, as well as classical, I suppose - require some background theory, and can take a long time to learn.

Learning is a combination of a few things: listening to the type of music you want to play (and more), theory/knowledge acquisition, and the application of that theory/knowledge through practice. All you really need is a good teacher and a willingness to work hard.

Yes, it is extremely hard to play piano. In order to play you must find the hidden monks in the mountain of Panjiazhuag. You must fly here otherwise you shall be assinated by the high preistests of the monkey family, they shall enslave you and make you become an elephant. Then you life will be ended by slipping on a banana.

Do not touch a piano or you shall feel the wrath of the monkey people gain.

I hope that helped
